Exploring Folly and Bowen's Island

There is so much more to Folly than just the beach. As I approached the pier, I could hear a soft hum of laughter mixed with the sound of waves lapping against the sand. There was the distinctive call of the many beach birds peeking through the background noise frequently. I stepped onto the pier and the first thing I noticed was the unusual teal color of the water. I have never seen the water this color here before. It is absolutely gorgeous! The combination of the sea air and the visual beauty are almost intoxicating. After visiting the beach you can make your way to Center Street to visit some of the many colorful shops and restaurants that line the sidewalks.

Old school!

Next stop -- Crosby's Seafood! From the brilliant colored decorations on the deck to the quaint little store where you can buy fresh seafood, Crosby's is full of character. The view of the fishing boats from the deck is amazing. It is easy to lose track of time in this little gem on Folly.

Last oysters of the season!
Now to Bowen's Island Restaurant for dinner. One of the most awesome views can be seen from the upstairs deck. There are kayak and paddle boards available to rent if you are feeling adventurous. If seafood isn't your thing, then this isn't the place for you. The portions are huge. Everything is fried or steamed, an oyster lover's dream. It is delicious. On the way out you can smell the sweetest jasmine as you walk down the ramp. This may be the only dessert you can handle after such a big meal. Folly is definitely an experience that you don't want to miss.
