Whether running, walking or biking, I enjoy the miles of trails that wind along the river through the grand oaks and across the tidal marsh. The many parks and recreation areas throughout the community provide enjoyment for kids of all ages. From one to ninety-nine, everyone is sure to find an activity.
Home to the Family Circle Cup and The Charleston Battery, Daniel Island almost always has an event to attend if you are so inclined. Including tennis, concerts, soccer, craft shows, 5k charity races and much more, Daniel Island has a lot to offer.
Did I mention amazing cuisine? Well, let me tell you about a few of our wonderful restaurants. We have quite the selection. From sushi to pizza and just about everything in between, we have it. My top three choices are Sermet's Courtyard, Vespa Pizzeria and Wasabi.
Sermet's offers a terrific Mediterranean menu. The food is always amazing. Since it is located just up the street from the pier, an after dinner walk can be a perfect end to the day. Vespa Pizzeria has much more than pizza. Their arugula and beet salad gets my vote every time. And last but not least Wasabi is of course a wonderful Japanese restaurant. Sushi is their specialty. I like it all. One can never have too much sushi in my opinion. There are many more tasty spots on the island, but these are my "go to" places.
Children can ride their bikes to school and stop at the local frozen yogurt shop for a treat on the way home. People walk and ride their bikes to the grocery store. We have a farmers market on Thursdays throughout the spring and summer months. Although we are located just fifteen minutes from the Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island and downtown Charleston, we are close to everything but far enough away to maintain that small town feel. When I come home each day it is like I automatically convert to “island time”.
I am truly blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
